Wildlife Presentations
With over 30 years of experience presenting experiential programs for the Forest Society and spending hours in the woods observing animals has developed a series of entertaining and educational programs about wildlife in Northern NH.
Raised in the UK Nigel has always had a keen interest in wildlife and moving to northern NH heightened that curiosity. Nigel has met up with bears, moose, deer, turkeys, porcupines and many other wildlife in his pursuit to learn about the natural world.
Nigel’s programs are interactive and entertaining and his love of the natural world shines through in his presentations. He brings in antlers, pelts and other items to enhance his programs and teach the audience about a world that he enjoys.
Programs developed are:
-
Coyotes
Coyotes are often misunderstood; people seem worry about the animals rather than learning what they do. Why do coyotes howl, are there Coydogs or Coywolves, where do they den and what do they eat? These fascinating wild canids are interesting and have a niche in both rural and urban America.
-
Wild Turkeys
Nigel watched wild turkeys being called in on the show “The Waltons” when he still lived in the UK and dreamed about America. Now he is enthralled by the big birds which were almost chosen as the symbol of America. During this program learn why turkeys gobble, where they nest and where they sleep. You also get to see how to “call” turkeys and can try the calls yourself.
-
Black Bears
Do bears hibernate, how big are their dens, how big are they when they are born and what do you do if a bear charges you. Nigel will answer all of these questions and more in his “Bear Program” as he talks you through the life cycle of the bruins in NH.
-
Moose
Description goes hereEver wondered why do moose lose their antlers each year, how big do moose grow or did you know that moose can close their noses and often have twins. Nigel will entertain you with a fascinating program about moose, the largest of the deer family.
-
Porcupines
Growing up in the UK feeding hedgehogs in his Aunts flower garden Nigel never expected to be tracking porcupines to their winter dens in Bethlehem NH. These shy animals get a bad rap because of domestic animal encounters but they are fascinating. Learn what they eat throughout the year, why they chew on buildings, where they den and why you see them close to roads in the springtime.
